About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog “Destination Slim”.

I’m here to blog about my life – the good, the bad and the damn ugly!

Why now? Well, I’m the heaviest weight I’ve ever been, I am wearing the biggest clothing size I ever have and now I have developed multiple health issues which has scared the life out of me.

Basically, I’m a 26 year old obese woman who loves to write (and obviously eat) and I’ve got to change things in my life now or I may not make it to 30.

  1. Hi, and thanks for stopping by my blog and following! I’ve returned the favor.

My stats are a little scarier than yours.

I started my journey on September 12, 2014. Here are my starting numbers:
    Age: 21
    Height: 5’8″
    Weight: 318.2 lbs.
    BMI: 48.4

Here are my current stats, as of November 28, 2014:
Age: 21 (but for only a couple more weeks!)
    Height: 5’8″
    Weight: 288.4 lbs.
    BMI: 43.8

My highest possible “ideal” weight is 164 lbs., which would give me a BMI of 24.9. An overweight BMI is 25. So, that means I’ve got to lose a MINIMUM of another 124.4 lbs. to be “healthy.”

    That’s very, very scary.

I wrote all of that out because you wrote here that you feel awful about your weight, and I really just wanted you to know that, in the grand scheme of things, your weight isn’t as awful as it could be, so don’t let those numbers get you down—just use your stats as motivation!

I think that you are so brave and so smart to start working on yourself NOW. If I’d started trying to be healthy at 208 lbs. vs. 318.2 lbs., I’d be less than 20 lbs. away from my goal right now (since I’ve already lost 29.8 lbs.).

You’re doing the right thing, and I believe that you will be successful! I know that you can do this!

I am looking forward to reading your blogs and getting to know you and witnessing your success! I hope that we can encourage each other along the way, as this is a journey that gets very difficult at times.

Know that I’m rooting for you! I believe in you, and I’m excited for you!

    1. Thanks for sharing. Your stats are obviously different from mime but it’s comforting to know that there are people like me who want to change. You’ve already lost a great amount of weight and I hope you’re proud. It would be lovely to support you through this journey and to have your support. I’m now going to watch your stats and spur you on.

  2. Different yet both still very daunting, right?

For the first time in my life, I actually am proud of myself. Losing weight feels good! 😉 Soon you’ll be saying the same thing—I’m sure of it!

I’m glad that you feel better knowing that you’re not alone in this! Thanks so much for your support, too! It means a lot to me. I’ll be looking out for your blogs, as well 🙂

  3. Hello! I found your blog when I was visiting Rachael’s blog. I love finding people who are “on the same journey” as I am. Like others have said, it is so great to know that you’re not the only one feeling this way. Totally going to follow your blog for added motivation! 🙂 Keep up the great work!

  4. Dear MissRMB,
Thank you for looking at my blog. It is nice to “meet you”. I think you are very beautiful and brave. I am glad that you are working on yourself. Bring your life to a healthier situation. You are a source of inspiration for me and I am sure that for a lot of people around!
If I may, then I would advise you to go with a specialist who could provide with an eating regime. You might need to learn what to eat and when to eat it. I know that when you want to loose weight you start eating the “right” things many times a day and in small portions. In that way you will make sure that your body is not lacking of food, which is translated into energy that you need to keep yourself alive, happy and doing all the things that you have to do.
Take good care of yourself and the most important thing is “please, do not forget to count your blessings”, I am sure you can count a lot of them! That will give you more strength to keep going with your amazing journey!
    Big hugs and kisses!

  5. Hello Miss RMB, thanks for following sultanabun. I think that losing weight is a state of mind. It’s really difficult to maintain that state of mind all the time, the mind strays to buttered toast fairly regularly but just keep on hauling it back. I found that rewarding myself with small treats instead of food was a great tactic. I’m ancient (43) so I like house magazines and gardening gloves… it doesn’t matter as long as you give yourself a happy treat regularly. Good luck, you are definitely not alone! Lynda.

    1. I subscribed to a crochet magazine and I’m going to treat myself to some wool this weekend from the market. I’m making socks for everyone for Christmas keeps my hands busy!

I too have changed my diet to get healthier and lose weight. This is the the diet I used to loose 30 pounds. I also quite drinking anything but water or tea. I don’t eat wheat, corn or rice products either. http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf
